Quick Update

Things are going pretty well for Micah. We are learning when to be concerned and when not to. It's surprising how many things therre are that seem critical (the size of Micah's belly, her heart rate, the exact position of her arms) but aren't really that important. Of course, we don't know this to start with, and just because a particular observation didn't matter yesterday doesn't mean that it won't matter tomorrow.

All things considered, Micah is doing very well. They have started weening her from the steroids, are giving her body a chance to produce her own red blood cells, and seem to feel like she is gaining weight at an acceptable rate. (After stalling for a couple of days, she gained a whole ounce last night! She is now 1 pound, 13.6 ounces.)

Micah was seen by the Occupational Therapist for the first time, and has not shown any signs for concern (arms, legs, neck all look good). She has also had some really good awake time, responding to our voices and to music. (She is developing a reputation for not liking shift change.) And,we have gotten to Kangaroo. Actually, the reason this update is so short is because we are headed back up to the NICU for Olivia to Kangaroo again.

The biggest thing we have been doing is learning how to make this work for the next couple of months. Jesus has really been providing for us, we are developing a routine, and God is beginning to use us to speak hope, love, and truth into the lives of other parents here. The Lord had been good to us.
