God is Always Worthy

The Great I AM

Image
This is one of my favotire worship songs. I almost said "praise song" but caught myself. I guess technically there is a difference. "Praise" is about what God does; it is about God's acts in history, even in our own lives. "Worship" is about who God is, His eternal nature which never changes. Forever and always, YHWH is the Great "I AM". We worship God for who He is. We praise Him for revealing Himself to us. Perhaps, then, this song does both.

So, What Are You Thankful For?

God, Teach Me To Love

God, teach me to love and think of 'the other'; God teach me to love, and be like you. For, your love is who you are. You thought of me and took my place on  Calvary's tree. God teach me to love and think of 'the other'; God teach me to love, and be like you. For, your love is who you are. You paid my price and took my pain and set me free. God teach me to love and think of 'the other'; God teach me to love and be like you. For, your love is who you are. You sought me out and took my sin. Now, I can see. A psalm of praise, in Gospel style, because God not only commands us to "sing unto the lord a new song", He also gives us the song.

A God Bigger Than Ever

Today is worse than yesterday; God is bigger than ever. Micah is not doing as well today. She had a rough morning, and needed several changes to her therapy. She is on a different ventilator. She wasn't responding as they had hoped to the others. Who knew there were so many different ways to help her breathe? She spent most of the morning breathing 100% oxygen. Of course, they don't want her to do this forever because of the problems it could cause elsewhere, but she needed it this morning. The machine makes her whole body shake as it keeps her lungs from collapsing so tries to open smaller vestibules for air exchange. She has been able to go as low as the 80's, but is currently a little higher. The idea is to do what she needs and then try to back off slowly as she improves. The lung culture they took yesterday indicates small traces of a staff infection. There are several kinds of staff infection (you probably have one on your skin right now without knowing it!), an...

Flyleaf's "I'm Alive"

My hands are searching for you My arms are outstretched towards you I feel you on my fingertips My tongue dances behind my lips for you This fire rising through my being Burning I'm not used to seeing you I'm alive, I'm alive I can feel you all around me Thickening the air I'm breathing Holding on to what I'm feeling Savoring this heart that's healing My hands float up above me And you whisper you love me And I begin to to fade Into our secret place   The music makes me sway The angels singing say We are alone with you I am alone and they are too with you I'm alive, I'm alive I can feel you all around me Thickening the air I'm breathing Holding on to what I'm feeling Savoring this heart that's healing As I cry The light is white And I see you   I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive I can feel you all around me Thickening the air I'm breathing Holding on to what I'm feeling Savoring this he...

Worship March 18, 2007

I saw something today at worship and I'm pondering it, meditating on it, and trying to discover what I am to do with it. I got online today to try and work it out in my mind a little because it's keeping me awake. That's really too bad because it's been weeks since I've had a Sunday afternoon nap, and months since I've had enough sleep. But, if it's from the Lord, I'll take it! The enemy is at work twenty-four hours a day. I think we should take him head-on. As we worshiped this morning I saw a place dedicated to encountering God, a sanctuary among sanctuaries, a locus for seeking God 24/7/365. It was begun with a worship service on a Sunday morning, but when the service ended, the worship didn't. Someone kept playing, singing, praying, teaching, or seeking the Lord there continually. It is impossible that I individually should 'pray without ceasing,' but the primary identity of the body of Christ is not individual. Rather, it is corporate, a...
