A Good Week
This has been a good week.
Micah's pick-line is out, so all of her vitamins and meds are now being given to her orally. She is up to 16 ml of Mama's Milk, which is a lot for her at three hour intervals. Her lungs have maintained their capacity after last week's trial and the antibiotic course is over. She is resting a lot, opens her eyes sometimes (I haven't found the perfect photo of that yet), and gets through each day a little bigger, a little stronger, and a lot prettier. She is also creeping up on the 2 pound mark slowly, and should reach it sometime next week. Currently, she is 1 pound, 11.9 ounces!
Of course this week's big news is that she an Mommy finally got to snuggle again today. Two days ago, Olivia couldn't hold her because Micah was having a rough day. Yesterday, Olivia couldn't hold her because she was having a good (I mean record-setting progression on O2 levels!) day and they didn't want to wear her out. So, we were a little surprised when Micah's nurse looked up from her notes this morning and suggested that it might be a good time to kangaroo "if you'd like too?" Are you kidding me? Asking Olivia if she wants to hold Micah is like asking the sun if it wants to shine (or asking a child [or Olivia and me for that matter] if they want one of my Uncle Jerry's fresh baked chocolate chip cookies)! "If you'd like to?!?" YES!!!
So, Olivia got to hold Micah for the second time. It went really well (over an hour and a half), and only ended when it did because the room needed to get ready for the arrival of 23-week twins (more new roommates for our little girl).
Prayer is still needed as we wait on Micah to grow and watch out for any danger signs. Pray for protection for her eyes, mind, and other organs. Pray for growth and weight gain. Pray for the right nurses and doctors to be attending to her. Pray for the logistics of us being here to take care of her (a job neither of us could do alone). Pray for wisdom as we slowly begin to look to the future. Pray for strength. Pray for peace. Pray for the other children and families we are meeting. Pray for more good weeks. Most of all, pray for God to be glorified each time we lift up the name of Jesus over Micah's life.
