A Political Moment

That's the estimated population of the United States today.

Clinton, McCain, Obama

These are the best 3 people we can come up with to choose from to lead the Free World?!?

Personally, I voted for Mike Huckabee, and I'm sick in my heart to think that John McCain has won the delegates he needs to secure the candidacy. As for the other two, there isn't two cents worth of difference between them. So, I am, as Sean Hannity says, a "Conservative in Exile"

What does that mean? I'll tell you what it means for me:

* The Bible is the Word of God. (It was the first textbook in our schools!)
* Our founding documents should direct us, not popular opinion.
* SIN (adultery, homosexuality, murder, rape, burglary, cheating on your taxes,...) is wrong.
* Bigger government is not the answer.
* The IRS should be eliminated and replaced with a sales tax (even illegals pay).
* Our borders should be controlled. (No Amnesty)
* The innocent life of our children should be protected. (Planned Parenthood kills more blacks in 3 days than the Klan has killed in its entire history!)
* ALL politicians should have term limits.
* Creationism should be taught in our schools if the Theory (not fact) of Evolution is taught.
* Death Penalty statutes should be enforced.
* Pornography is not Free Speech; it's disgusting.
* Judges should apply the law rather than creating it.
* Entitlement programs are a dead end solution.
* Affirmative Action is Discrimination.
* We need fuel independence.
* Racial discrimination and religious persecution are wrong in any country.
* Personal and Social Responsibility are foundational.
* The nuclear family is the core of society.
* One's philosophy should be chosen, not caught from the media.
* All we are, own, and experience that is good is a gift from God in Jesus.

I was excited about voting yesterdday. When I went back I did the Texas Two Step and was elected democratic chair. I was the only one who voted for Obama who had return all the others had voted for Hillary. I do think that most of the 35 and under in our town voted for Obama. I think this year is going to be an exciting year in politics.

I want you to know I apprecaite you post and more than you post I love your blog. I have added it to my favorites and look forward to my reading more posts in the future as time allows. I pray that God and His Holy SPirit will give you the strength you need.

Beautiful blogging Bryan. Your Blog is a magnificent testimony to your faith and your journey to seek Christ. Showing others the beauty Christ's message through your obedience to Him is empowering.
Your support of life and the multitudes who never had a chance is a message that must be heard and absorbed.
Christ taught us that the only way to the Father is through Him. Your message on Politics shows faithful conviction in almost all areas, but your adherance to man's enforcing a penalty of Death on man usurps God's judgement. Only God can judge humanity. We cannot presume to take the power that is reserved for our Father no matter how heinous the crime. "The Express Lane" for the Death Penalty must be closed.
Politically there is not a candidate who dares to speek as Christ would have. Their version of "Tough on Crime" IS A CRIME in God's eyes. Rise up and defend ALL of the defenseless and even those who are without excuse for their sins; Your personal hero said to forgive 7 times 70 times.
God Bless You, and Your beautiful family. May your hearts beat as one always.
Your Brother in Christ,

Dear Txsippian,
Thank you for your comment. I understand your feelings about the death penalty, but I respectfully disagree. I believe proper enforcement of the death penalty brings glory to God. Please allow me to explain:
As far back as Genesis 9:6, God commanded the use of capital punishment and explained His reasons: "Whoever sheds man's blood, by man his blood shall be shed, for in the image of God He made man."
This is not part of the Jewish law, but is part of God's command to all the descendants of Noah. Murder requires capital punishment, precisely because that is what it takes to honor God.
Also, the idea is reinforced and extended in other places in the Old Testament. In Numbers 25, Phinehas is credited with stopping the anger of the Lord when he killed an Israelite leader fornicating with a Midianite woman. And, it is God who commands the death penalty for other offenses such as kidnapping, striking your parent, beastiality, offering your children to false gods, adultery, and breaking the Sabbath.
Now, someone will say to me, "That is the Old Testament, and we live under the New Testament." Really? Is God truly the same yesterday, today, adn tommorrow? Is our sin somehow not offensive to him anymore? Has he ever removed from us the requirement to respect and protect those made in His image, even from others who were also created in His likeness?
"But," you may say, "Jesus forgave the woman caught in adultery in John 8, didn't he?" Yes, He did, but why? The law requires that such a woman be stoned along with the man she was with. Yet, the law also has a safeguard: it requires two witnesses. That is why what Jesus did is so brilliant. Jesus removed the witnesses! He bent down and wrote in the dirt, and whatever he wrote was so convicting that none of those there could consider themselves worthy of carrying out the required sentence. Being left alone with the woman, Jesus asks, "Woman, where are they? Did no one condemn you?" She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "The neither do I comdemn you. Go, and sin no more."
So, 1- the required witnesses were not present, 2- she acknowledges that Jesus is Lord and recognizes that her fate rest in her hands, and 3- His forgiveness comes with the command to "Go, and sin no more."
Also, Jesus acknowledged the right of Pilate (under God's plan)to put him to death (John 19) and Paul recognizes the legitimacy of government to wield such powers (Rom 13). In fact, it could be argued that it is the purpose of government to wield such authority.
Therefore, I feel it honors God for the governments of men to enforce capital punishment. I think to refuse to do so elevates humanity above the God in whose image we are created.
Which is more important, the honor of God or the life of someone who has defilled another made in God's image. It's a difficult choice for us, at best, though perhaps it should be obvious. Frankly, I'm glad God decided this one for us.
