Cleansing Day
Today Micah and her Mama had a special bonding moment. We had hoped for some Kangaroo time, but today just wasn't the day for it. Instead, Olivia was able to give our daughter a bath! She actually handled it pretty well (Micah that is). Her skin is so sensitive, that you really only get 1 swipe per area, so you have to make it count while still being very gentle. I was so proud seeing my two girls together. Oh, and Olivia handled it pretty well also. :-)
The bath was a big adventure, so Micah did a lot of resting afterwards. She is holding her own on the easier ventilator, and had a pretty good day. It is hard to see Micah struggle, but the journey is not accomplished in a day. Even good days can be exhausting. With her current physical condition doing well, we have been battling for our little girl in other areas.
The reality of our situation is that we are surrounded by other families going through traumatic times and its work to protect Micah from that influence. Lots of our neighbors want to share their stories, but "Our son had surgery for..." and "This problem happened to us..." or "Well, I heard..." aren't helpful or spiritually safe for our daughter. (We are trying to limit visitors to protect Micah's sensitivity to stimulation, and spiritual safety is one of our many criteria.) Add to this the reality that many of these other situations involve parents who have no moral grounding or relationship with the Lord, and it can be overwhelming. We have been attending some of the groups, but it's hard for us to expose ourselves to some of these things. We want to be God's light, but it isn't easy when those in Darkness don't see it and when the situation is so raw.
That's why we appreciate our prayer warriors so much. That isn't a trite identification; it is a critical reality. We appreciate all of your prayers, but there are some of you whom God has gifted and who have embraced God's call to intercession is a particularly powerful way. (Note: There is no room for spiritual pride here, because all these gifts are given by God and others are more gifted in other vital areas.)
Today, we felt impressed to ask for prayer coverage in two specific areas:
1) Pray for protection for us from the influence of other's stories and experiences.
2)Pray for protection for Micah Ahava from any spiritual, mental, or physical ties or hindrances those stories and expectations may try to associate with her.
We are believing the God of our Salvation for complete deliverance and healing in Micah's entire being. If you are just coming to know our journey, and the trials the Lord has chosen to shape us into His image, you may be surprised to see me say that God has never given us any reason to doubt His goodness, His mercy, or His the love and anointing He has for our daughter.
