What (in the world) is going on?

We are being played.
Read the headlines. Follow the news. Trail the "violence." Sex on the street, protestors in muppet costumes, people being paid $20+/hour to carry a picket sign... It's all a joke, an intentional re-staging of the 60's. The only thing missing (so far) are the assasinations.
Why? Why the set up? Because the forces in power want to stay in power. They want us so scared that we are afraid to stand, afraid to vote for the best candidate (who btw is not a governor), afraid to actually think that the Tea Party folks may have a point; they may actually be right.
Blame the Democrats. Blame the Rhino Republicans. Blame the Administration. Blame the Inside-the-Beltway Politicians. Blame CNN. Blame the Masons or MTV. Blame Hollywood, the Main Stream Media, the Illuminati, Radical Islam, or Dan Brown.
OR...
Or, stop blaming and start praying. Stop following the crowd and start seeking the Lord. Does the world seem like it is going crazy? Are you afraid to look at billboards, buy a newspaper, or even read your email because you aren't sure what your eyes will see, how offesnsive or discusting or just plain untrue it will be? Do things seem like they are falling apart?
They are. But, they are supposed to. The world is winding down, literally.
Read Matthew 24. Don't read the Left Behind Series, Paul Crouch from TBN, or even Billy Graham for your understanding of the Last Days. Don't even start with Revelation or Paul's writings. Start with Jesus. Start with prayer and with Matthew 24. Ask the Author to show you where we are in the story, and what to expect.
Read it like you don't already think you know what is going to happen. Read it like you have never heard of The Great Tribulation, the Anti-Christ, or the 4 Horsemen of the Appocalypse. Read it like you are a Disciple of Jesus, sitting at his feet, or walking by his side as he shares from his heart all that he knows about the things that are to come. Take notes. Outline it yourself. Put it in your own words, (not the labels you learned in Sunday School).
THEN read Revelation 6, Daniel 12, or 1 Thessalonians 5 with your Matthew 24 outline beside you. Let Jesus show you how things fit together. Olivia and I did this recently together and it was such a blessing. I'd love to help you do this as well, but it's not about me. This is as much about you and Jesus as it is about answering your questions about the times we live in.
I believe we should spend more time hearing what God says about the days we live in than we do listening to talk radio, reading the headlines online, or watching Christian World News. We can do those things. I like Christian World News once in a while, and I sometimes still listen to a little talk radio. But, they can only report the news; God is in charge of all that happens. And, God is the One with a plan. Listen to Him directly.
So, don't be played! Don't let the world panic you. Keep praying.
Don't just let other people tell you what is going to happen (not even me). Read it prayerfully for yourself.
And, don't assume things are going to get better. Just assume that with God's help, we can be ready to be better responders to the things that are going to be.
