God is the reason for everything

.
God is the reason for everything that happens in life. His is the end to which all things aim and the beginning from which they all flow. He is the Genesis and the Revelation. He is the Alpha and the Omega. He is the Beginning and the End; the Past, the Present, and the Future. His breath is the tide of life. His gaze supports the pillars of Time and Eternity. His glory gives purpose to the atom and the universe. His Name is Life’s Goal.

God.

God. He is complete, final, sustainable, enough. He is Holy. He is the only true Other; the only Uncreated Creator of everything. God is the I AM.

God is the basis for every story, the beginning of every hope, the foundation for every societal organism, the truth behind every belief. It all starts with God and (no matter how much we corrupt it, manipulate it, fight it, or ignore it) it will all end with God as well. His is the Great Story. God is the Grand Protagonist.

God is the reason for everything that happens in life. Believe it. Write it. Speak it. Tell it. Share it. Ponder it. Submit to it. Live in it.

God is the reason.

I struggle even to describe the weight of this reality. I'm fabulously inadequate. I can’t tell a good enough story to capture it. I can’t paint a strong enough image or find a majestic enough canvas. But, even if I could, God gives us more. Though he is complete and enough in himself, God includes us in the Great Story. We too are part of the ‘everything that happens’ with him as both source and goal.

God. Complete. Yet, God makes room for us. In fact, he makes us crucial to the Great Story. God determined that Love was ‘the greatest of these’. God established that there is ‘no greater love’ than self-sacrifice. He bore our rejection and rebellion in patience so that all Creation might witness the Love that he, who alone can claim the right to possess, has preferred to give. Moreover, God had made us the subject of his giving. Therefore, God created us to be the object and the observer of his Great Love.

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!

How unsearchable his judgments,

and his paths beyond tracing out!

Who has known the mind of the Lord?

Or who has been his counselor?

Who has ever given to God,

that God should repay him?

For from him and through him and to him are all things.

To him be the glory forever! Amen.
